So much more than the story told

So Much Asia for So Little” (Jan. 12) gave the wrong impression about Taiwan. As the Portuguese recognized about 400 years ago, it is breathtakingly beautiful.
In Taipei there is everything from the National Palace Museum and night markets to beautiful scenery. Yangmingshan National Park offers gorgeous views with waterfalls, volcanic craters, hot springs and extraordinary flowers and trees. In the old mining town of Chiufen, steep stone steps lead to historic teahouses.
Along the northeast coast are spectacular seashores. Offshore are several exotic small islands. And one shouldn’t miss Sun Moon Lake, Hsitou Forest Recreation Area, Yushan National Park and, in the south, Kenting National Park.
