Colleges Must Do More to Control Greek Houses

Re “Piecing Together a Battle of Frats,” Jan. 25:
I am a senior in high school preparing to attend a California university. I strongly believe it is a college’s duty to monitor fraternities and sororities more than they do. The Greek life at most college campuses is out of control. Many frat members engage in excessive drinking. Also, animosities between fraternities are prevalent and should be looked at more seriously. As seen [when rival fraternities fought at San Jose State], animosities can turn fatal quickly. College administrations [know] that illegal activity often occurs within the houses, so they should take action.
