Baca Backs Villaraigosa for Seat on City Council

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca announced Wednesday that he is supporting Antonio Villaraigosa’s City Council bid.
Villaraigosa announced in November that he was taking on Councilman Nick Pacheco, who is seeking reelection to the 14th Council District next month. The district includes parts of Boyle Heights, Highland Park, Mt. Washington and Eagle Rock.
Baca had initially supported Pacheco before the former state Assembly speaker entered the race. However the sheriff withdrew his endorsement after one of Pacheco’s associates sent out campaign mailers attacking Villaraigosa’s character.
