Kentucky Topples Florida in a Rout

Florida hardly looked like the No. 1 team in the country against Kentucky on Tuesday night at Lexington, Ky.
The sixth-ranked Wildcats’ defense made sure of it.
Keith Bogans scored 15 points -- all in the first half -- as Kentucky beat the Gators, 70-55, snapping Florida’s 14-game winning streak one day after it moved to the top of the poll for the first time in school history.
The active, swarming Wildcats, 17-3 overall and 7-0 in the Southeastern Conference, forced Florida (18-3, 7-1) into 34% field-goal shooting (17 of 50) and 19 turnovers.
Gerald Fitch had 14 points for Kentucky, which won its 11th straight game, its second-longest winning streak in Coach Tubby Smith’s six seasons.
Colorado 93, No. 3 Texas 80 -- Michel Morandais scored 24 points, including a three-point basket with 1:58 left to trigger a 13-0 run that helped the Buffaloes (13-7, 3-4 Big 12) get the upset at Boulder, Colo. Texas is 14-4, 5-2.
No. 4 Pittsburgh 68, Providence 61 -- Jaron Brown scored 15 points, including six of seven free throws in the second half, to help the Panthers (16-2, 6-1 Big East) hold on to win at Pittsburgh.
No. 13 Creighton 84, Northern Iowa 75 -- Michael Lindeman scored 20 points, including two three-point baskets late in the game, to help Creighton (20-2, 10-1 Missouri Valley Conference) win at Omaha.
No. 20 Xavier 80, George Washington 68 -- Lionel Chalmers, playing only his second game since returning from a broken foot, scored 17 points to lead Xavier (16-4, 7-1 Atlantic 10) at Washington.
WOMEN
No. 1 Connecticut 87, St. John’s 46 -- Jessica Moore scored 16 points for the top-ranked Huskies (21-0, 8-0 Big East), who won at New York to extend their NCAA-record winning streak to 60 games.
