Thousand Oaks Mayor Spent $98,000 on Election

Thousand Oaks Mayor Andy Fox spent the equivalent of $5.73 for each vote in his November reelection bid, while new Councilwoman Claudia Bill-de la Pena spent about $1.91, according to final campaign documents released this weei.
Fox, a Los Angeles Fire Department battalion chief, led the campaign money race by raising $98,796.15 and was the top vote-getter with 17,248 votes received in his bid for a third term. Bill-de la Pena, a television news producer, spent $24,730.20 and received 12,969 votes.
Bob Wilson Sr., winner of the two-year seat vacated by Linda Parks, who left the council to become a county supervisor, spent $39,214.60. Councilman Dennis Gillette spent $32,115.03 to secure his second four-year term.
Among the losing candidates, incumbent Councilman Dan Del Campo spent $21,532 and received 12,305 votes. Planning Commissioner Michael Farris spent $28,889.03, while former Planning Commissioner and businessman Randy Hoffman spent $17,383.99.
Perhaps the most cost-efficient campaign was run by civil engineer David Seagal, who said he spent less than $100. The 3,358 votes he got cost him less than 3 cents each.
