Role Model for Fleiss

Re “Fleiss to Launch New Venture,” Dec. 13: Heidi Fleiss’ story resembles that of Sally Stanford, the famous San Francisco madam who, after retiring from her illegal profession, opened a swanky restaurant in Sausalito and was eventually elected mayor (and later assumed the honorary title “vice mayor”). As a former Sausalitan, I think it’s terrific that Fleiss is doing her part to rebuild downtown Hollywood. Stanford added her inimitable flavor to the once-seedy Sausalito, helping it grow into a tourist attraction that today lines the pockets of local merchants and helps balance the city budget. I wish Fleiss every success in doing the same for Hollywood.
