Nelson, Durkin Move Ahead

Lindsey Nelson of Villa Park and Celia Durkin of Calabasas, who were both beaten last year by eventual champion Elizabeth Exon of Irvine Woodbridge, will meet in one semifinal match of the Southern Section individual tournament today at SeaCliff Country in Huntington Beach.

Nelson, a senior, cruised past Saugus junior Yasaman Sakhakorn, 6-2, 6-0, in the round of 16 on Thursday and handled Chaparral junior Nazlie Ghazal, 6-3, 6-0, in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals for the third consecutive season. .

Durkin, a senior, defeated North Hollywood Campbell Hall senior Daron Moore, 7-5, 6-4, in the round of 16 and beat senior Ivana King of Long Beach Poly, 6-1, 6-1, to move into the semifinals for the second consecutive year.
