Pentagon Names Soldier Killed in Bomb Blast

The Pentagon identified a Special Operations soldier killed in a bomb blast in the Philippines as Army Sgt. 1st Class Mark Wayne Jackson of Glennie, Mich. Jackson, 40, died Wednesday at an open-air market outside Camp Gen. Arturo Enrile in Malagutay near Zamboanga city.
Philippine military chief Gen. Benjamin Defensor blamed the Islamic group Abu Sayyaf for the blast that also killed two Filipinos, including the alleged bomber.
Another U.S. soldier was among 23 people wounded.
