Fire Official, Wife Plead Not Guilty to Arson

A public information officer for the county Fire Department and his wife pleaded not guilty Thursday to setting fire to an unoccupied Pasadena house they had tried to purchase last year.
Fire Inspector Roland Lee Sprewell, 37, and Heidi Sprewell, 36, of Altadena are charged with arson.
A bank allegedly had refused to return their deposit on the house in the 1500 block of North Raymond Avenue, which burned in July.
He is free on $50,000 bail, and she is free on her own recognizance. The next court date was set for April 18.
