North Korea warned the South that new fighting could break out if Seoul doesn’t tell it about efforts to retrieve a South Korean navy boat that sank in disputed waters during a recent skirmish.
South Korea dismissed the warning, saying any attempt to block the operation would be seen as a military provocation.
Seoul maintains that it controls the area where the ship went down. The salvage is to begin next month.
Four South Korean sailors were killed and 19 wounded in the June 29 clash. Another was listed as missing. The North suffered casualties but did not say how many.
