A man holding a gun to his head led Orange police on a chase and crashed into a car before he was arrested Thursday, police said.
An Orange patrol officer spotted the man in a white Mazda SUV just after 2 a.m. on West Chapman Avenue and Main Street, Orange Police Lt. Bob Green said.
When the officer tried to stop him, the man sped away and led police on a chase through Santa Ana, where he hit a car at Grand Avenue and 1st Street but kept driving, Green said.
No one was injured in the accident. The driver stopped at 17th Street and Carriage Lane, sat in his car for two minutes talking to himself, then got out with his gun in hand, Green said.
Rubberized balls subdued him.
He was booked on suspicion of evading arrest.
