A final look at the top girls’ tennis teams in the Southland:
1. Palm Desert (SS-Div. II, 21-0)
Aztecs dominated en route to Division II title and were deep enough to have won Division I, too, if they’d been in it.
2. Calabasas (SS-Div. I, 22-2)
Coyotes truly earned Division I title with a 10-8 win and two victories on games in the last three rounds of playoffs.
3. Beverly Hills (SS-Div. I, 21-1)
Normans were unbeaten until they were edged by Calabasas in the division championship match.
4. Corona del Mar (SS-Div. I, 18-4)
In return to Division I after winning two Division IV titles, Sea Kings were semifinal victims of Calabasas’ playoff march.
5. Troy (SS-Div. II, 20-4)
Fell in Division II final match, which was about as far as Warriors could get with Palm Desert in same division.
6. Laguna Beach (SS-Div. I, 19-5)
Got steamrollered by Beverly Hills in semifinals, but Breakers otherwise flattened many of area’s top teams.
7. Peninsula (SS-Div. I, 18-5)
Panthers fell to Corona del Mar in quarterfinals, ending a streak of four consecutive Division I championships.
8. Dana Hills (SS-Div. I, 16-4)
By advancing to quarterfinals, Dolphins did well in a loaded division during an up-and-down season.
9. Woodbridge (SS-Div. I, 19-4)
Warriors lost to Calabasas in quarterfinals after playing one of the region’s toughest regular-season schedules.
10. Brentwood (SS-Div. III, 20-2)
Losses were to Marlborough and Beverly Hills. Eagles beat Campbell Hall three times, including in the division final.
