Rocket Launcher Toted in Armored Car Robbery
- Share via
Robbers armed with explosives and a rocket launcher attacked an armored delivery van in southeastern France and took as much as $1 million in euros, officials said.
Five or six attackers, driving several vehicles, stopped the truck near the town of Aubagne, police said. The assailants did not fire the rocket launcher but used explosives to break the van’s locks and seize the cash, police and judicial sources said. No one was injured.
The gang also stole the guards’ weapons. Police said a small truck also used by the robbers was later found in Marseille.
The holdup followed a string of recent armed robberies in France.
