From Times Wire Reports
Peacekeepers fired tear gas to disperse hundreds of stone-throwing Kosovo Albanians protesting the arrests of former guerrillas, in a clash that injured 11 international police, a U.N. official said.
Local media reported that many demonstrators were also hurt during the protest in the town of Decani in western Kosovo, a province of Yugoslavia’s Serbian republic. Security forces arrested 23 people, later releasing three juveniles
Many Kosovo Albanians see members of the rebel army that fought harsh Serb rule from 1998 to 1999 as heroes.
