Deere Earnings Double on Overseas Sales
Increased overseas sales of its trademark agricultural equipment helped Deere & Co. more than double third-quarter earnings, easily eclipsing Wall Street expectations.
The Moline, Ill.-based manufacturer reported earnings of $147.6 million, or 61 cents a share, for the quarter ended July 31, up from $71.8 million, or 30 cents, a year ago. Analysts on average were expecting 35 cents.
Deere stock rose $4.18, or 10%, to $46.20 on the NYSE.
