One person died and 21 were wounded when suspected rebels lobbed a grenade at a paramilitary patrol near a bus stop in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
A senior police official said that the militants threw the grenade in Kulgam town in Anantnag district, south of Srinagar, the summer capital.
Kashmir is at the heart of a military standoff between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan. New Delhi is battling a separatist revolt against its rule in the state.
