Joseph O’Gorman, 59; Airline Industry Veteran Headed DHL Airways

Joseph O’Gorman, 59, chairman and chief executive officer of DHL Airways, died of a heart attack Saturday in Chicago.
O’Gorman became chairman and chief executive of the restructured airline in March 2001. He assembled a new management team for DHL, which operates a network of all-cargo aircraft for DHL Worldwide Express and other customers.
He was a 35-year industry veteran before joining Chicago-based DHL Airways last year. He had worked at United Airlines and at US Airways Group. He also had been chairman and chief executive of Air California, Frontier Airlines, Reno Air and Aloha Airlines.
