Misdirected Money

Re “Bond Issue Would Aid Arts Centers,” Aug. 7: So the Board of Supervisors passed a bond proposal that will send some money the way of the 40-year-old L.A. County Museum of Art. Is this the same museum--LACMA--whose directors plan to tear it down in order to make room for a sprawling floor plan supporting a $300-million Mylar roof?
If LACMA will not reconsider its decision to destroy what exists in favor of something to compete with the Walt Disney Concert Hall, I hope the supervisors will reconsider the bond issue so that institutions in need of tax money for more-fundamental care, like the Natural History Museum [also included in the bond proposal], will receive the funds they need.
