Firefighters took an hour to knock down a blaze that broke out in a strip mall, Jim Wells of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The fire at 20177 W. Saticoy St., reported at 1:20 p.m., was put out at 2:22 p.m., Wells said.
Fire crews had to contend with triple-digit temperatures as they worked to extinguish the flames. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
The strip mall contained a shoe store and a medical facility, where the most of the fire first took place, Wells said.
