Some Suggestions for Cleaning Up Beaches

Re “O.C. Leads Nation in Beach Closures, Up 81% Last Year,” July 25:
As the population in California grows, so does the waste, and it has nowhere to go. When Orange County has the most beach closures, what is a county to do?
Some solutions are more funding to clean up the beaches. Pipes that lead the sewage deep out into the ocean are leaking and letting all the waste products out at the shore. I also agree that regional legislation is a good idea, rather than regulating beaches and setting rules according to each beach’s needs.
Regulations should require businesses to treat their waste with more care.
Another solution is to direct more funds to the Environmental Protection Agency, which will fight excessive pollution and unwanted waste.
