Simon Cites Housing Needs During Local Stop

During a campaign swing through Ventura County, Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon on Thursday unveiled proposals to increase the availability of affordable housing in California, focusing on reforming regulations governing land use, wages and local government financing.
“Home ownership strengthens our communities, it encourages civic responsibility and it provides a solid foundation from which Californians can work to support their families,” Simon said while speaking at the Ventura County Government Center.
He said the median home price in Ventura County, about $350,000, is out of reach for many. “Right now California is drifting, and we are drowning in a sea of red ink.”
