Man Held in Rape of Baby, Molestation of Girl

A Sacramento man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 14-month-old girl and molesting his fiancee’s 12-year-old daughter, investigators said.
The fiancee of Bruce Roberts, 38, reported finding digital photographs of him engaged in sexual acts with the children, sheriff’s spokesman James Lewis said.
Roberts was arrested Monday and his arraignment was scheduled for this week, but he has been confined to a psychiatric ward, according to deputies.
Roberts baby-sat the 14-month-old for a long-time friend, Lewis said. He is accused of binding and raping the child, according to court documents. Investigators said they are continuing to interview witnesses in the case.
