What Are You Drinking?

“Our son is getting married in a [hot-air] balloon above Lake Tahoe. So we have been very carefully thinking about what wine to have. We wanted something from the year he was born, 1978, but that was when we were four years into our wine business, we had a negative cash flow, very little money and a baby. So we’re either going to take a ’78 Martini Cabernet or ’78 Ridge ‘York Creek’ Cabernet. Part of drinking wines is remembering the times, so I think Cabernet is a wine that you can put down for a long time. This isn’t exactly ‘what have we tasted,’ but how we plan to celebrate.”
