Ventura School Chief to Lead Saddleback District

Jerry C. Gross, a veteran school superintendent from Ventura County, has been appointed superintendent of the Saddleback Valley Unified School District, the Board of Education announced Thursday.
Gross, 61, led the high-performing Conejo Valley Unified School District for eight years. He succeeds longtime Saddleback district chief Peter Hartman, who died earlier this year.
The board will vote to confirm Gross’ appointment at its Aug. 2 meeting. Salary negotiations are still underway.
