Three men wanted in connection with a dozen bank robberies across Orange and Los Angeles counties have been arrested, FBI officials said Thursday.
James Newsome, 35, Howard Stapp, 31, and Marc Smith, 35, are suspected of holding up four banks in Orange County and eight in Los Angeles, FBI agent Julie McWilliams said.
In each incident, robbers handed notes to tellers demanding money, McWilliams said, adding that the men carried a bag and displayed a weapon, but no shots were fired and no one was injured. She would not say how much cash was taken or whether it has been recovered.
