Senate Confirms SBA Nominee for Post

The U.S. Senate confirmed Glendale entrepreneur Hector V. Barreto Jr. to head the Small Business Administration.
Lawmakers approved President Bush’s nominee by voice vote.
Barreto, 39, owns an employee-benefits company and is a former head of the Latin Business Assn. He will head an agency whose budget Bush has proposed cutting from $900 million to $539 million next year.
