Saddleback Track Being Renovated
The track and field facility at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo is undergoing a renovation this summer, the school announced.
A new eight-lane all-weather polyurethane surface highlights the reconstruction project, which is scheduled to be completed Aug. 20. The renovation also includes new horizontal jump runways, a javelin runway, discus and shotput rings, and a new steeplechase pit.
The stadium, built in 1979, was last resurfaced about 10 years ago, said track and field Coach Mark Blethen. The project is expected to cost the South Orange County Community College District about $670,000.
