Imprisoned novelist and disgraced politician Jeffrey Archer was freed to attend his mother’s funeral two days after being convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice.
Archer, a millionaire best-selling author and former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, was sentenced to four years after his conviction for lying when he successfully sued a newspaper that reported he hired a prostitute.
Lola Hayne, 87, died July 12 while the judge was summing up the evidence in her son’s six-week trial.
