Is That a Hotel or a Hospital?

Re “New Resort, Monarch Bay Residents Battle Over Right to Use Private Club,” July 10:
Finally, someone has spilled crushed-marble sand under the wheels of the St. Regis resort’s skateboard. The impending collision between the hotel and residents offers some hope of beachside conservation.
As a longtime resident of the affected area, I too worry about the hotel’s impact on Salt Creek beach. Seen from PCH it resembles a general hospital. From Niguel Road the decor is worthy of the Sawdust Festival. If these are indicators of how well our local officials controlled its conformity with local architecture and beachside taste, the Monarch Beach locals are rightly concerned about what the club may someday become. Not to mention its impact on the beach as a whole.
