Throngs of civilians are expected to visit the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Port Hueneme this weekend for Seabee Days 2001, a two-day open house offering a plethora of activities.
A full-dress military equipment parade will roll through the base at 11 a.m. Saturday, kicking off the 15th annual event.
Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at how the base operates. Seabee construction skills demonstrations, weapons exhibits, military displays, and tours aboard Navy and Coast Guard ships will be available.
Nonmilitary activities will include a carnival, classic car and motorcycle shows, a karaoke contest, sports tournaments, four-mile run, live music, food and craft vendors, and rock climbing walls.
Admission is free. The event will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Free parking will be available by entering the Pleasant Valley Road and Victoria Avenue gates, which open at 10 a.m. each day.
