Software company FileNet Corp. said Friday that it had settled a legal dispute with the world’s largest photographic film maker, Eastman Kodak Co.
Terms were not disclosed, but FileNet said it will take a pretax charge of $4 million in the second quarter for the settlement and related costs. The Costa Mesa company earned $7 million in the second quarter last year.
The company said Wang Laboratories Inc. filed the lawsuit in October 1994, alleging patent infringement by FileNet. Kodak subsequently purchased Wang.
FileNet shares closed at $13.40, down 25 cents a share, on the Nasdaq. The settlement was announced after the close of regular U.S. trading hours.
