Bergen Brunswig Corp. said Friday it has reached a 5-year contract with Raley’s supermarkets that will be worth $3 billion in sales to the Orange-based drug wholesaler.
Bergen will supply pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter products to 103 Raley’s stores that have pharmacy operations, the company said in a statement. The supermarket chain operates 149 stores in Northern California, Nevada and New Mexico.
Bergen, which plans to merge with rival AmeriSource Health Corp., said the agreement between its Bergen Brunswig Drug Co. unit and Raley’s expands an existing relationship. Last month, Bergen signed a 5-year contract with Big A Drug Stores Inc. that it expects to add $80 million in annual sales. In May, Bergen expanded a contract with Spartan Stores, adding about $95 million in sales.
Bergen’s shares rose 42 cents to $19.90 on the New York Stock Exchange.
