Death Row Decisions

Your July 5 lead editorial, “A Justice’s Doubts,” was about Sandra Day O’Connor and the death penalty. It mentioned that there are now 3,711 people on death row nationwide. Nowhere in the editorial did it mention how many people these inmates had killed. Of course, you are only following the practice of most of the other media. The victims are seldom mentioned.
These people on death row have been given every opportunity to plead their case. I wonder how many of these killers gave their victims a chance to plead for their lives.
I would hate very much to have to be the person who pulled the switch or administered the lethal drugs. But I would bet that you would get a lot of volunteers from the victims’ families.
