Homicide investigators said Saturday the drowning of a 5-year-old Lancaster boy in a backyard swimming pool appeared accidental.
The cause of death, however, will not be available until an autopsy is completed.
The child was found floating in a neighbor’s pool just after 8 p.m. Friday. He apparently chased a soccer ball into the yard while his grandmother chatted with neighbors, sheriff’s investigators said.
Paramedics were unable to revive the boy, who was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, officials said.
