Gratuity Gratitude

The note said “Thank you” and was signed, “Ann, Housekeeping.”
In all the years my wife and I have left tips for our hotel housekeeper, this was the first time it was acknowledged in this manner.
We have noticed hotels now providing maids with gratuity envelopes conveniently placed in our room. We don’t mind, and we hope they will remind others to tip.
Maid service deserves to be recognized. We tip the doorman, the bellboy and the waiter. Treat your housekeeper as you do all the others who give you good service, by tipping. You may notice some extra amenities.
By the way, Ann stopped us in the hall to extend a personal thank you. Her smile was worth a million. Were we the only ones to say thank you to her?
