Chaminade Bounces Oak Park, 16-2

Freshmen Jen Segar and Christine Ong each swept three singles sets and Chaminade High defeated Oak Park, 16-2, in a Southern Section Division IV first-round girls’ playoff match Thursday at Warner Center Tennis Club in Woodland Hills.
Segar won, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles and Ong won, 6-3, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles to help the Eagles win their 10th consecutive match.
Sparked by the No. 2 team of Lindsay Chew and Megan Messina, Chaminade (14-2) swept nine doubles sets.
The Eagles will play at Rosary in the second round Saturday.
In other Division IV first-round matches:
Harvard-Westlake 17, La Canada 1--Stephanie Berg gave up two games in winning three sets at No. 1 singles for the Wolverines at Studio City Golf and Tennis.
Shilpa Madhavan and Katelyn Rader won, 6-0, 6-2, 6-2, to spark a sweep of nine doubles sets for Harvard-Westlake (12-5).
Calabasas 18, Louisville 0--Erin Everly, Celia Durkin and Monica Wiesener each swept three singles sets to improve their combined record to 146-2 in sets for the No. 2-seeded Coyotes (18-0) at Calabasas.
Everly is 52-1 this season, Durkin 45-0, and Wiesener 49-1.
Newbury Park 9, Nordhoff 9--Aimee Fiore and Jessica Thompson swept at Nos. 1 and 2 singles for Newbury Park (11-9), which won on games, 77-74, at Nordhoff.
DIVISION I
Camarillo 11, Arroyo Grande 7--The Scorpions won eight of nine singles sets in a first-round match at Camarillo.
Lauren Gaona and Michelle Alvarez, playing in Nos. 1 and 2 singles, each swept three sets for the Scorpions (16-3).
DIVISION II
Quartz Hill 9, Ventura 9--Carlotta Maiso and Jillian Jones each swept their singles sets to help the host Rebels (15-6) win on games, 79-75, for their 11th consecutive victory at Quartz Hill.
Maiso won, 6-0, 6-2, 6-0, and Jones won, 6-2, 6-4, 6-1.
Katy O’Brien and Sara Cid, Ventura’s No. 1 doubles team, won their sets, 6-4, 6-1, 6-0, for the Cougars (11-4).
DIVISION III
Westlake 14, Rosemead 4--The Warriors, led by Lauren Baer and Lindsay Weiss, won eight of nine doubles sets at North Ranch Country Club.
Baer and Weiss, Westlake’s No. 1 team, won, 6-0, 6-1, 6-2, to improve to 51-3. The Warriors are 14-5.
CITY CHAMPIONSHIP
Granada Hills 7, Verdugo Hills 0--No. 1 singles player Jasmin Dao blanked Roxy Ionescu and the No. 1 doubles team of Caryn Linder and Shannon Slotnick defeated Helen Luu and Amy Pham, 6-0, 6-3, to help the Highlanders dominate a battle between unbeaten teams at Granada Hills.
Granada Hills (15-0) also got singles victories by Christine Dao, Canna Furuta and Yuka Otaka.
Verdugo Hills finished 16-1.
CITY INVITATIONAL
El Camino Real 3, Belmont 3--Jailyn Ross and Janelle Kulik of El Camino Real were leading at No. 3 doubles, 6-2, 3-2, when the quarterfinal was called because of darkness. It will be continued Monday at 2 p.m. at El Camino Real.
