Long Beach Women Fall, 65-63

Heather Haanen made the game-deciding shot with 11.5 seconds left as Colorado State defeated Long Beach State, 65-63, in a women’s NIT quarterfinal game at Fort Collins, Colo.
Angie Gorton led Colorado State (23-9) with 19 points. Charel Bailey had 17 for Long Beach (22-11), which made only nine of 23 free throws.
At Madison, Wis., LaTonya Sims had 28 points and 16 rebounds as Wisconsin (19-12) overcame the loss of seven players to one-game suspensions because of violation of an unspecified team rule and routed Michigan State, 77-45.
Becky Cummings and Maxann Reese led Michigan State (19-12) with 10 points apiece.
Wisconsin will play Colorado State in the semifinals.
