A 7-year-old Van Nuys girl who died after she was hit by a car was identified by the coroner’s office Thursday as Destiny Danille Driver.
She was walking Tuesday afternoon in a marked crosswalk on Magnolia Boulevard when she was struck and thrown 100 feet. She died at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys.
The driver, whose name the police would not release, told officers that she did not see the girl because the sun was shining in her eyes. The accident happened just west of Cedros Avenue at 5:40 p.m.
The incident is under investigation and police said they are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information should call (818) 756-8391.
