Cervenka Strikes Out 22 in 14-Inning Victory

Melanie McCauley’s fielder’s choice grounder scored Annemarie Blodgett in the 14th inning to give Crescenta Valley High a 1-0 victory over Canyon in a nonleague game Wednesday at Canyon.
Meredith Cervenka pitched a two-hitter, striking out 22 to increase her total to 61 in four games for the Falcons (4-0).
Harvard-Westlake 13, Calabasas 4--Lisa Fiegenbaum’s two-run single keyed a five-run first inning for the Wolverines in a nonleague rout of Calabasas at Valley College.
Fiegenbaum collected three hits and Kat Cooper had two hits for the Wolverines (4-2).
Anna Russell (3-0) allowed four hits, struck out 12 and walked four.
Two Calabasas starters--including ace Amy Rosson--did not play for disciplinary reasons and sluggers Sara Hall and Heather Bell were benched for part of the game.
Aliso Niguel 4, Saugus 1--The Wolverines parlayed three hits and an error into a three-run third inning in a third-round game of the Saddleback tournament at Alicia Park in Laguna.
Julie Watson had two hits and scored for Saugus (4-2) in the first.
Alemany 3, Paraclete 1--Rosie Ramirez gave the Indians (4-3) a 2-0 lead with a two-out single in the fifth inning of a nonleague game at Alemany.
Sara Gonzales (1-1) struck out 10 for Paraclete (2-1).
Burbank 8, San Fernando 1--Emily Brower (4-0) pitched a no-hitter and Kristin Carr had two doubles and three RBIs for the Bulldogs (5-0) in a first-round victory at the Hoover tournament.
Hoover 6, Verdugo Hills 1--Daisy Barcena and Evelyn Crowder each had three hits for the Tornadoes in the Hoover tournament.
Cori Herbert (4-3) allowed one hit in five innings for Hoover (4-3).
La Reina 13, San Marcos 1--Kristen Ward, Mackenzie Vandergeest and Sarah DiJulio each had three hits for the Regents (3-2) in a nonleague victory at San Marcos.
El Camino Real 4, Montclair Prep 1--Melissa Coogan pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight for the Conquistadores in a victory at El Camino Real.
Fiona Landers added two RBIs for the Conquistadores (5-2-1).
Granada Hills Hillcrest Christian 10, Pacific Hills 9--Noreen Mercado tripled in the tying run and stole home in the seventh to give the Eagles (1-1) a nonleague victory.
Faith Baptist 22, Windward 5--Amy Rudolph had three hits and four RBIs for the Contenders in a nonleague victory at Windward.
