SATICOY — A robber held up Saticoy Liquors at gunpoint Tuesday night and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said.
The robbery occurred shortly before 7 p.m. in the 1500 block of Los Angeles Avenue, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Keith Parks.
A man walked in and asked to buy cigarettes, Parks said. When the clerk began to hand him a pack, the man pulled out a gun and demanded all the money, Parks said.
As the gunman was leaving the store, his gun discharged a round into the floor. No one was injured and it was unclear if the weapon went off accidentally.
Parks said the man was seen running toward downtown Saticoy, but he eluded deputies and a helicopter dispatched to the scene.
Parks said the robber was a thin Latino man in his 20s who was wearing dark pants and a blue sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.
