The price of household water could drop 10% for most city residents if a county commission approves a Los Alisos Water District plan to merge with the Irvine Ranch Water District.
The Los Alisos Water District, which provides water for drinking, irrigation and sewage systems to the majority of the city’s 60,000 residents, suggested the merger to streamline operations, general manager Kenneth Peterson said.
The boards of both districts have voted to apply to the Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission for permission to join.
