Texas Plaques

One of the latest political footballs is the request of the NAACP that the Texans remove any plaques at the Texas Supreme Court building that are symbols of the Confederacy (Jan. 22). What right does the NAACP have to dictate what the Texans can use to commemorate part of their history? Why the hysterical opposition to the Confederate flag? It seems to me that a flag is not that important anymore--ever since the American citizen can legally desecrate the American flag.
Maybe the NAACP should change its focus and energies to more important issues--like poverty, drugs and schooling.
