The U.S. Census Bureau plans to hire 100 local census takers to help gather information in March and possibly April.
All those hired would spend time contacting Placentia residents who failed to mail their census information. The census takers would help residents fill the forms so they can then turn them in to the bureau.
“Around one-third of the people fail to send these in,” said David Reger, a recruiting assistant for the bureau’s office in Fullerton.
The job, which could take four to eight weeks, according to bureau officials, would pay $14 an hour and would require full-time and part-time applicants. The bureau would also pay for car mileage.
