A La Habra man who police say set his wife and mother-in-law on fire was charged Tuesday with aggravated mayhem and arson causing great bodily injury.
Guy Leslie Baker, 45, was scheduled to be in a Fullerton courtroom to enter a plea, but he is still hospitalized at Western Medical Center for burns to his hands, said Tori Richards of the district attorney’s office.
Jasmine Espinoza Baker, 36, and Concepcion Mendoza Cortez, 61, remain in critical condition at UCI Medical Center with severe facial and torso burns, Richards said.
Mendoza Cortez suffered second- and third-degree burns on her face, neck and hands in the attack last week. Her daughter suffered second-and third-degree burns to her face, neck and chest.
If convicted, Baker could get up to life in prison, Richards said.
