John Kuehne; Bass Player for the Monkees

John C. Kuehne, 58, a bass player with the Monkees and Linda Ronstadt. The Texan attended San Antonio College and won musical competitions along with Michael Nesmith. Kuehne later worked with Nesmith in his First National Band on recordings and concert tours. Using the stage name John London, Kuehne also had small roles and played bass backstage when Nesmith and his Monkees partners--David Jones, Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz--had their “The Monkees” television sitcom from 1966 to 1968. After the show ended and the group broke up, Kuehne was a studio musician for Ronstadt and for James Taylor. Kuehne returned to San Antonio in the early 1970s and spent the rest of his career in advertising sales for Texas newspapers. On Saturday in Rockport, Texas, of undetermined causes.
