From Times Wire Reports
A Spanish policeman who approached two men pushing a car in downtown Barcelona was shot to death by one of them in the latest attack blamed on armed Basque separatists. The car was later found to hold explosives. The shooting raised to 23 the number of killings that the armed separatist group ETA--short for Basque Homeland and Freedom movement--has taken credit or been blamed for this year. The officer, Juan Miguel Gervilla Valladolid, 38, was shot in the head and chest, police said. The assailants fled on foot.
