McDonald’s Hits Spark Spirits in Paraclete Tournament

Lauren McDonald had three hits and drove in three runs Saturday to lead Paraclete High to an 8-3 victory over St. Bonaventure in a quarterfinal game of the Paraclete tournament at Lancaster City Park.
The Spirits (11-8) defeated Littlerock, 9-0, in a first-round game called after five innings because of a seven-run rule enforced for the tournament.
Jenn Arroyo had had two hits and McDonald hit a double for Paraclete.
In other Paraclete tournament games:
L.A. Baptist 6, Antelope Valley 0--Jillian Rice had two doubles and two runs batted in for the Knights (5-8) in a consolation game halted after five innings because of a time limit.
Melissa Shonterer had two hits and an RBI.
Notre Dame 1, Victor Valley Christian 0--Amanda De La Cerda had a perfect game through 6 2/3 innings, finishing with a one-hitter and 11 strikeouts, in a quarterfinal victory for the Knights (7-10).
De La Cerda singled home Cindy McGee in the first inning.
Alemany 1, Oak Park 0--Sarita Contreras pitched a two-hitter and singled home Kaitlin Reiss in the fifth inning for the Indians (13-8) in a quarterfinal.
Earlier, Sarita Contreras pitched a no-hitter, striking out seven and walking one, in a 6-0 victory over L.A. Baptist. Rose Ramirez had a two-run triple in the fourth.
La Reina 2, La Salle 1--Kristen Ward hit a run-scoring single in the sixth inning to give the Regents (13-4) a quarterfinal victory.
Mackenzie Vandergeest had two hits, including an RBI, for La Reina.
Ward (7-4) allowed four hits, struck out eight and walked one.
San Fernando 4, Palmdale 0--Sophomore Gabriella Barragan pitched a five-hitter with no walks and Nancy Esqueda had two hits, one RBI and scored once for San Fernando (24-6) in a consolation victory.
Long Beach Millikan 9, Hoover 1--Ivette Martinez had two hits and scored a run for Hoover (9-9) in a quarterfinal.
In the first round, Nicole Platt had a two-run single in the fifth inning and Angela Nunez had a run-scoring single for Hoover in the 4-3 victory over San Marcos.
Nicole Platt had three hits and three RBIs in the two games.
In the Thousand Oaks tournament:
Highland 1, Banning 0--Niki Secrease pitched a no-hitter, striking out four and walking two, for Highland (12-6) in a White Division second-round game. Keri Pulcifer hit a run-scoring single in the fifth.
Righetti 2, Moorpark 1--Michelle Willette hit a solo home run in the first inning for the Musketeers (7-13) in a White Division quarterfinal loss.
Righetti (16-7-1) scored two unearned runs in the fourth.
El Camino Real 1, Peninsula 0--Junior Melissa Coogan scattered six hits and Jacqui Goodchild singled home Kelly Lombard in the fifth inning to give the Conquistadores (17-3-1) a consolation victory.
