Fie on Fees

Regarding Steve Hochman’s report about unsold tickets for many Bruce Springsteen shows (Pop Eye, April 23):
I hardly think media advertising or lack of a new record has anything to do with it. Springsteen’s problem is what stagnates all entertainment: ticket prices!
I have two tickets for the May 22 show, upper level along the side, and they cost $135, then Ticketmaster tacks on a $20.50 “convenience fee,” then they tack on a $3.25 “handling fee.” Altogether these tickets cost just a hair short of $80 each! That is the reason this will be my only concert, sports, entertainment event for about two years.
