Crescenta Valley Gets Winning Combination of Hitting, Pitching

Melanie McCauley, Annmarie Blodgett and Lindsay Ray each had three hits and Crescenta Valley High routed Arroyo Grande, 15-0, Friday in a quarterfinal game of the Arroyo Grande tournament.
Crescenta Valley had 18 hits in the five-inning game.
Meredith Cervenka (19-1) struck out eight of 11 batters and allowed a single before being relieved in the fourth for Crescenta Valley (20-1).
In a first-round game, the Falcons edged Yosemite, 1-0, on a first-inning, run-scoring single by Jessica Crownover.
Cervenka, who struck out 19, was perfect through 6 1/3 innings before surrendering a walk and a single.
Montclair Prep 7, Buena 3--Monique Lovell had three hits and the Mounties won a first-round game of the Arroyo Grande tournament.
Montclair Prep (13-3), ranked No. 2 in Southern Section Division VI, committed five errors and lost to Lakewood St. Joseph (11-11), in a quarterfinal game, 7-4.
Ventura 1, Santa Barbara 0--Meaghan Nichols’ two-out single in the 10th scored Taryn Gerome and the Cougars won a Channel League game at Santa Barbara.
Kim Strong of Ventura (6-12, 4-5) struck out seven.
Camarillo 19, Channel Islands 0--Kathryn Nevard (11-6) pitched a five-inning perfect game and struck out 12 of 15 batters in a Pacific View League game at Camarillo.
Nicki Holt and Beth Boskovich each had three hits and Nikki Sutton had two hits and five RBIs for the Scorpions (14-6, 7-1).
Hueneme 16, Oxnard 3--Fraggle Jimenez had three hits, including a double and a triple, and four RBIs for the Vikings (12-5) in a Pacific View League victory at Hueneme.
Calabasas 9, Santa Clara 0--Amy Rosson pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Coyotes in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.
Candy Wang had an RBI triple in a seven-run third inning for Calabasas (14-3, 9-0), ranked No. 10 in the region by The Times.
Village Christian 13, Lancaster Desert Christian 1--Jessica McIntosh pitched a no-hitter and struck out 10 for the Crusaders in a nonleague game that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule at Lancaster Desert Christian.
Sarah Sherman had three hits and Amy DuBois hit a double and triple for Village Christian (13-5).
