Actor Pierce Brosnan’s 13-year-old son was in a car that plunged 150 to 200 feet down a steep embankment early Saturday, leaving him with multiple fractures and spinal injuries, authorities said.
Sean Brosnan was injured when the vehicle went down a brush-covered slope near Malibu, the California Highway Patrol said. He was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.
The boy was being treated for a fractured pelvis, a possible fracture to a vertebra and a ruptured bladder, the CHP said. He was recovering in the intensive care unit and was in stable but serious condition.
The 1982 Chevrolet Blazer was carrying six people when it went off Dume Canyon Mountainway about 3:45 a.m., the CHP said. The driver, James Hall, 19, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing major injuries.
